New research by Trase looks at how the expansion of beef, soy, palm oil, wood pulp and cocoa drives deforestation and peat loss in six key producing countries. The study quantified the resulting emissions and connected them to the volumes sourced by importing markets, to assess their exposure to these emissions.
In this video, Dr Carina Mueller, who led Trase's emissions research, highlights the key findings, including:
- What amount of emissions generated by deforestation is linked to commodity trade?
- What is the exposure of different importing countries to these emissions?
