#Together4Forests is an international campaign to strengthen action by the EU to protect the world’s forests. It is backed by 220 civil society groups from around the world. In December 2020, it mobilised nearly 1.2 million citizens to respond to the European Commission's public consultation on which measures the EU should take to address the EU’s role in deforestation.
WWF report
Following the consultation, the EU Commission committed to publishing a legislative proposal in 2021. To maintain momentum ahead of this proposal, WWF commissioned Trase to provide data and insights for a report entitled Stepping up: The continuing impact of EU consumption on nature. The report was widely covered in the media including Der Spiegel, De Standard, RTL info, Environment Times and Tech News and has since been cited by many other actors. It made a significant contribution to the momentum that helped secure an ambitious legislative proposal from the Commission – the EU deforestation regulation in November 2021.
